You never know who you know! ( michael )

You never know who you know! Feb. 3rd, 09 (see blog) we found ourselves with a 1952 Crown Coach previously converted to an RV, but has since been gutted, and trashed. After all was said and done, the beast is still in dirt road, AZ and so far we have no way to move it. We haven't received a call from the land owner about it, yet. You can see where we're at on this one. All we could think of was to raise the $500 in extortion money the tow truck driver was demanding. And since we are getting the MCI, what are we going to do with it? Well, yesterday, I was in our front yard chatting with our dear friend, Larry Bowers, a fellow Mason and Shriner. He needed to use our car trailer. He asked me when our motor home was to arrive? (see Set Back blog Jan. 28th.) I told him all the pitfalls we were experiencing and got him up to speed. Then, out of the blue he started rattling off a step by step plan that included an elaborate mix of a MIG welder, a gas powered air compressor, and a large truck with a heavy duty tow bar. I said, "The hulka weights 27 thousand pounds!" "Trust me", he says. "We can do this!" I have to tell you, I was impressed with how he put this plan together. I've known and worked with Larry for a few years and he is not one to do things in a haphazard manor. This could work and you can bet I'll be taking some photos. Let's say that all these things come together. Where are we going to put it? The MCI is claiming the prime space next to the house for refit. What will we do with the beast? As it stands right now, Christi & I plan to put the walls back up and clean it as best we can. Basically, we'll do the bare minimum and offer it to someone in need for what we have in it. It's a good thing. Now, where to put it??? Hmmm. Oh, Honey!?! All the Best, Michael & Christi

More Bus Plans ( michael )

More Bus Plans.
I have completed the inside right and left elevations just to give the over all picture of the fine furnishings on our wish list. We are designing our bus for comfortable living and entertaining. We always have friends & fans over.
We searched the web for floor plans, but couldn't find one to suit us. Man, those guys really keep their RV plans close to the hip! Thank goodness for Google images.
We cut the floor plan up into 4 compartments; Salon, Kitchen, Bathroom & Bedroom. Then we went to Private and commerical sites to get some ideas and Walla! A couple of hours with a #2 pencil, a scratch pad and a couple more on the laptop.
Now my bride can picture our new home on wheels. She knows that this plan could change before and during construction. Lord knows IT WILL.

Hopes still up (michael)

We have added our kitchen cabinet layout and ceiling plan. The cabinets are to be light stained oak with beadboard centers. The ceiling will be 3 levels. The center oval will be medium colored stained beadboard. Square to be tan fabric with LED lighting and the rest of the ceiling will be light stained beadboard.

Not getting our hopes up! ( michael )

Not getting our hopes up! But!!! I know, I know. It's not in the driveway YET! I can't help myself. Here is the proposed floor for the MCI Bus. I drew it up on the laptop this morning. Just showed it to my darling wife and she didn't change a thing. The research has paid off. Thank you Toast for the recommendation on a web search. We have found alot of helpful sites. Some more than others... Why is it that some people put some really good information on the net and then say you can't use it for fear of copyright infringement? Well, all in all we got some great ideas. We will use bits and pieces to put the bus together. Does that count as infringement? Can't wait to get started. I know, I know. It's not in the driveway YET!
I would love this headcold to go away. We got a sweetheart dance to do!
All the best, Michael & Christi

Coach vs Bus ( michael )

Coach vs Bus I believe one has very few wishes in one's life so, I don't go around wishing for everything I see. My wife on the other hand, thinks that wishes are endless and so she wishes on things all the time. And then there is the fate thing that blows the wish thing out of the water. During the last month or so, I wished for a used, cheap, 40' bus and got it! (read last blog ) But then another wish or fate started kicking in. We received a call from a gentleman in Tucson, AZ that is willing to deal (the payment thing) on a 1987 MCI, wide body Tour Bus. Now that's the wish that I wanted. This bus is perfect for us. We can convert it to suit our needs. It looks great and it is within our comfort zone moneywise. Meanwhile we still have the 40' Crown coach. The Beast that refuses to move from the place it rests. We're still at a loss as to what to do with it. Never the less, we are going forward on the MCI. We just can't pass it up. This Sunday we meet the member of our family. We will post pics of our new child next week and start with the transformation from tour bus to a home. We will not get our hopes up until the new bus sits in the driveway. Yeah right!
